Work Based Qualifications & Apprenticeships

Work Based Learning and Apprenticeships

Work Based Qualifications and Apprenticeships enable individuals to fit learning around work.

The learning is based on the needs of the individual's employment, and is a great way to gain nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeship courses are free to the individual and the employer as the training is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Social Fund.

Unlike other similar programmes that require students to be away off site during working hours, our further education programmes are delivered within the workplace which addresses specific competencies identified for the qualification.

A QCF (Qualification & Credit Framework) qualification offers a way of recognising skills and achievements by awarding credit for qualifications at their own pace at their own pace along flexible routes.

Designed to develop the skills and knowledge to do the job effectively a QCF is a competence based qualification gained at the workplace. It is a great way to improve your CV and help you progress with your career.

A unit is the smallest part of learning in the QCF for which credit is awarded.  Credits awarded for each individual unit can be put together to make a qualification.
