As we celebrate apprenticeship week who better than Giuseppe ‘Pepe’ Trimarco to put the spotlight on as he has worked his way from
Vocational Learner → Trainee → Chef → 2nd Chef → Head Chef → Business Owner
Winning various awards in his career so far while following apprenticeships during each step along his journey to now being the joint owner of The Boat House in Saundersfoot where he actively promotes apprenticeships and supports his staff as they are following their qualifications.
Back in 2012 while following his Apprenticeship he took part in the Wessex Salon Culinaire competition in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs in the Caterer, Licensee and Hotelier student of the year and came 2nd in the UK after wowing in a high pressured cooking competition supported by PRP Training and his assessor Jamie Bessant.
“Following an apprenticeship was perfect for me as it allowed me to earn money, learn, but also gain valuable experience. Working my way from apprentice to head chef to now joint business owner has allowed me to know what it’s like when starting off in the industry so now I’m able to support and help guide my staff to help them with their development.
I’m not a fool to think my staff will be with me until they retire and that’s why I think it’s important for them to gain as many qualifications as they can, while they can, to help them for the future. I’m lucky that Jamie who was my Tutor & mentor, then my assessor at PRP to now to a lifelong mate who I know is there for me if I ever need anything.”
